Hello Xavier,
In search for an answer for my MM2001, not functioning properly anymore on the parallel port of my WinXP computer dedicated for standalone modelling purposes, I was attracted to your site.
I use GMFC software and bought it seven years ago including the MM2001 interface. In the beginning I used it with success.
On putting my question in the RC soaring forum I was advised by Gilles M. to buy the GGC USB adapter and extra software as he expected that would solve the problem and give additional extra's as higher frequencies to use and faster steppers.. As this will set me back another € 100,00 and will not give me certainty ( there could be another cause for my parallel port problems) I'm trying to find other ways to proceed.
My question to you is:
Can building your USB adapter (I have the electronic parts available besides the PIC 18F-4550) help me out?
If so, do I have to switch over to Jedicut (freeware) or can I keep on using the GMFC software?

Hi Henk,

Thanks for your interest to my website!

The USB-MM2001 adapter describe on to the site is just compatible with Jediuct, also if you build it, you must switch to Jedicut.

There is also some other newest solutions usable with Jedicut, like arduino module or with the new beta version it is possible to generate and export GCode. I think this is the future, you can found some description on Jedicut site (www.jedicut.com), it is compatible with LinuxCNC, Mach3, Arduino GRBL and other GCode Interpreter.

I hope I have answered your questions.

Hi Xavier. Switching to Jedicut is what I will do. Found a link on the Jedicut website for an USB adapter and other driver cards (also MM2001) with the use of an Arduino. I have several Arduino Pro minis lying around, played with those for other aeromodelling purposes and will try it.
Thank you for your advise.

Henk
